Custom Implant Rhinoplasty in Seoul, Korea
Custom implant rhinoplasty uses your 3D-CT data to design a silicone implant whose base follows the exact curve of your nasal bones (the SOFIT technique). A close fit reduces gaps, wobbling and tilting that can occur with off-the-shelf implants.

Who is Custom Implant Rhinoplasty for?
- You previously had an implant that tilted, moved or felt loose
- Your nasal bones have an irregular curve that a standard implant would not follow
- You want a natural bridge line that does not look or feel like an implant
How Custom Implant Rhinoplasty works
Ready-made implants are carved by hand during surgery. On a nasal bone with an irregular surface, small spaces can remain under the implant, which may allow movement, fluid collection or capsule thickening over time.
With SOFIT, the implant is designed from your CT scan before surgery so that its underside mirrors the bone surface and its thickness matches your forehead and nasolabial angles. The tip is usually supported with your own cartilage rather than the implant.
Design and fabrication take some days, so the scan is usually done at or before your first visit.
Our approach to Custom Implant Rhinoplasty
Designed from CT data
The implant base is modeled on your nasal bone surface to minimize gaps.
Lower risk of movement
A close fit reduces dead space where fluid or capsule thickening could develop.
Balanced profile
Implant thickness is planned against your forehead and nasolabial angle for a smooth line.
Custom Implant Rhinoplasty: step by step
- 3D-CT scanBone and soft-tissue thickness are measured and your desired profile is agreed.
- Implant design and fabricationThe SOFIT implant is designed to fit your bone curve and prepared before surgery.
- PlacementThe implant is placed in the correct plane, usually through a closed approach.
- Tip support and splintThe tip is refined with your own cartilage and the nose is splinted for about a week.
Standard vs 3D custom implant
| Standard implant | 3D custom implant | |
|---|---|---|
| Shaping | Carved by hand during surgery | Designed in advance from 3D-CT data |
| Fit to bone | Small gaps can remain | Base matched to the bone surface |
| Preparation | Available immediately | Design and fabrication time needed |
| Best for | Even, regular nasal bones | Irregular bones or a previous implant that moved |
Risks and side effects of Custom Implant Rhinoplasty
- InfectionImplants carry a small risk of infection; if it occurs the implant may need to be removed.
- Capsular contractureScar tissue can tighten around any implant; a close fit is intended to lower this risk.
- Show-throughWith very thin skin an implant edge may become visible; dermis can be added as a protective layer.
All medical procedures carry risks. Your surgeon will review your medical history, explain the risks that apply to you and discuss alternatives before you decide.
Custom Implant Rhinoplasty recovery timeline
| When | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Day 0 | Surgery and rest in a private recovery room; most patients return to their hotel the same day. Cold compresses start straight away. |
| Days 2–3 | Swelling and bruising usually peak. Keep your head elevated, walk gently and avoid alcohol, saunas and exercise. |
| Days 5–7 | Check-up at the clinic; stitches, splints or tapes are removed where used. Most patients are cleared to fly after this visit. |
| Week 2 | Most visible swelling has eased and many people return to desk work and light make-up. |
| Months 1–3 | Residual swelling keeps settling and the shape refines. Strenuous exercise is usually resumed after 4 weeks. |
| Months 6–12 | The final result is generally assessed at this stage. We follow up online after you return home. |
Aftercare tips
- Sleep with your head raised for the first 1–2 weeks.
- Do not wear glasses on the bridge for about 4 weeks.
- Avoid blowing your nose, swimming and saunas for 2–4 weeks.
- Stop aspirin, fish oil and vitamin E 1–2 weeks before surgery unless your doctor says otherwise.
- Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 2–4 weeks; both slow healing.

Custom Implant Rhinoplasty FAQ
How long does it take to make a custom nasal implant?
Design and fabrication usually take several days, so we take the CT scan at your first visit or ask you to send a recent scan before travelling.
Is a custom implant used for the nasal tip?
Usually not. The implant shapes the bridge, and the tip is supported and refined with your own cartilage for a softer, safer result.
Can a custom implant replace an implant that moved?
Yes. Replacing a loose or tilted implant is one of the main reasons patients choose a custom design.
