Who is Upturned Nose Correction for?

  • Your nostrils are very visible from the front
  • Your tip is turned up and makes the nose look short

How Upturned Nose Correction works

An upturned tip can be natural or the result of contracture after earlier surgery. In both cases the tip needs new, strong support to change its direction.

A septal extension graft from septal or rib cartilage pushes the tip down and forward. How far it can move depends on how much the skin can stretch.

In revision cases, scar tissue is released first to give the skin room.

Our approach to Upturned Nose Correction

  1. Rotation correction

A septal extension graft changes the direction of the tip.

  2. Skin assessment

The amount of lengthening is matched to skin elasticity.

Upturned Nose Correction: step by step

  1. AssessmentTip rotation, nostril show and skin tension are measured.
  2. Cartilage harvestSeptal, ear or rib cartilage is prepared.
  3. Extension graftThe graft is fixed to the septum to reposition the tip.
  4. SplintThe tip is supported with tape and splint.

Aftercare tips

  • Sleep with your head raised for the first 1–2 weeks.

  • Avoid blowing your nose, swimming and saunas for 2–4 weeks.
