Dorsal Augmentation in Seoul, Korea
Dorsal augmentation raises a low nasal bridge with a silicone implant or your own tissue — dermis or cartilage — to give the face more definition in profile and from the front. The starting point at the brow, the height and the width are designed together.

- IV sedation or general anesthesia

- Recovery

Who is Dorsal Augmentation for?
- A low bridge makes your profile look flat
- A low radix (the area between the eyes)
- Your nose looks wide from the front
How Dorsal Augmentation works
A higher bridge narrows the look of the nose from the front and adds definition in profile. The key is a natural starting point between the eyes and a height that suits your forehead and tip.
The material is selected according to skin thickness and the height you want: implants give predictable height, while dermis and cartilage feel softer and avoid foreign material.
Bridge height is always planned together with the tip, because a tall bridge with a weak tip looks unbalanced.
Our approach to Dorsal Augmentation
Material choice
Implant, dermis or cartilage, chosen for your skin and goals.
Natural starting point
The line begins smoothly from the brow and radix.
Tip balance
Bridge and tip are planned as one profile.
Dorsal Augmentation: step by step
- Profile designHeight and starting point are agreed with photographs and CT.
- Pocket creationA precise pocket is made, usually through a closed approach.
- PlacementThe implant or graft is positioned and checked for symmetry.
- SplintThe bridge is splinted for about a week.
Risks and side effects of Dorsal Augmentation
- Swelling and bruisingPeaks at 2–3 days and mostly settles within 2 weeks; fine swelling can take months.
- Implant movement or show-throughCan occur with implants; a precise pocket and custom design reduce this.
- InfectionUncommon, but may require removal of an implant.
All medical procedures carry risks. Your surgeon will review your medical history, explain the risks that apply to you and discuss alternatives before you decide.
Dorsal Augmentation recovery timeline
| When | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Day 0 | Surgery and rest in a private recovery room; most patients return to their hotel the same day. Cold compresses start straight away. |
| Days 2–3 | Swelling and bruising usually peak. Keep your head elevated, walk gently and avoid alcohol, saunas and exercise. |
| Days 5–7 | Check-up at the clinic; stitches, splints or tapes are removed where used. Most patients are cleared to fly after this visit. |
| Week 2 | Most visible swelling has eased and many people return to desk work and light make-up. |
| Months 1–3 | Residual swelling keeps settling and the shape refines. Strenuous exercise is usually resumed after 4 weeks. |
| Months 6–12 | The final result is generally assessed at this stage. We follow up online after you return home. |
Aftercare tips
- Sleep with your head raised for the first 1–2 weeks.
- Do not wear glasses on the bridge for about 4 weeks.
- Avoid blowing your nose, swimming and saunas for 2–4 weeks.
- Stop aspirin, fish oil and vitamin E 1–2 weeks before surgery unless your doctor says otherwise.
- Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 2–4 weeks; both slow healing.

Dorsal Augmentation FAQ
Implant or my own tissue for a nose bridge?
Implants suit larger changes in thicker skin; dermis or cartilage suits modest height or thin skin. Many patients have a combination.
Will a bridge implant look obvious?
When height is moderate and the pocket is precise, the result is usually natural.
Can the bridge be raised without surgery?
Filler can raise it temporarily, but it may spread over time. Surgery gives a more defined and lasting line.
