Tip Plasty in Seoul, Korea

Tip plasty reshapes, raises or rotates the nasal tip by suturing and reshaping the tip cartilages and adding cartilage support where needed. Because the tip defines much of the nose's character, suture technique and grafts are planned carefully.

Who is Tip Plasty for?

  • Your tip looks round, wide or low
  • Your tip droops or is upturned
  • The tip looks weak compared with the bridge

How Tip Plasty works

The nasal tip is shaped by two pairs of lower lateral cartilages and supported by the septum. Their size, angle and strength determine whether a tip looks bulbous, flat or droopy.

Sutures can narrow and define the cartilages, while a columellar strut or septal extension graft adds projection and controls rotation.

Thick skin limits how much definition shows through, so we explain the realistic outcome during consultation.

Our approach to Tip Plasty

  1. Cartilage suturing

Tip cartilages are brought together and reshaped for definition.

  2. Support grafts

Septal extension or struts set projection and rotation.

  3. Skin-aware planning

Skin thickness is factored into the expected level of refinement.

Tip Plasty: step by step

  1. Tip analysisCartilage shape, support and skin thickness are assessed.
  2. AccessA closed or open approach is chosen depending on complexity.
  3. Reshaping and graftingCartilages are sutured and grafts placed to set the tip.
  4. SplintTape and splint hold the shape for about a week.

Risks and side effects of Tip Plasty

  • Swelling and bruisingPeaks at 2–3 days and mostly settles within 2 weeks; fine swelling can take months.
  • Tip stiffnessThe tip can feel firm for a few months, especially after grafting.
  • AsymmetryMild differences can remain or appear as swelling resolves; small revisions are occasionally needed.

All medical procedures carry risks. Your surgeon will review your medical history, explain the risks that apply to you and discuss alternatives before you decide.

Tip Plasty recovery timeline

WhenWhat to expect
Day 0Surgery and rest in a private recovery room; most patients return to their hotel the same day. Cold compresses start straight away.
Days 2–3Swelling and bruising usually peak. Keep your head elevated, walk gently and avoid alcohol, saunas and exercise.
Days 5–7Check-up at the clinic; stitches, splints or tapes are removed where used. Most patients are cleared to fly after this visit.
Week 2Most visible swelling has eased and many people return to desk work and light make-up.
Months 1–3Residual swelling keeps settling and the shape refines. Strenuous exercise is usually resumed after 4 weeks.
Months 6–12The final result is generally assessed at this stage. We follow up online after you return home.

Aftercare tips

  • Sleep with your head raised for the first 1–2 weeks.
  • Do not wear glasses on the bridge for about 4 weeks.
  • Avoid blowing your nose, swimming and saunas for 2–4 weeks.
  • Stop aspirin, fish oil and vitamin E 1–2 weeks before surgery unless your doctor says otherwise.
  • Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 2–4 weeks; both slow healing.

Tip Plasty FAQ

Can tip plasty be done without changing the bridge?

Yes. Tip plasty can be performed alone if the bridge is already in good proportion.

How long does tip swelling last?

Most swelling settles in 2–4 weeks, but the tip refines further over 6–12 months.

Is tip plasty enough for a bulbous nose?

If the cause is cartilage, often yes. If thick soft tissue is the main cause, additional thinning or alar work may be needed.
