Who is Upper Blepharoplasty for?

  • Sagging upper lids narrow your vision and make your eyes feel heavy
  • Skin folds at the outer corner cause irritation or tearing
  • You raise your forehead to open your eyes
  • Excess skin has blurred or multiplied your crease

How Upper Blepharoplasty works

With age, upper eyelid skin stretches and fat can bulge. The incision is placed in the natural crease, excess skin and fat are removed and the crease is redefined.

If the eyebrow has also dropped, removing skin alone can bring the brow closer to the eye and look harsh. In that case a sub-brow lift or brow lift may be a better choice — we assess brow position before deciding.

Our approach to Upper Blepharoplasty

  1. Clearer vision

Removing hooding can widen the upper visual field.

  2. Crease redefined

A clean crease is restored or created.

  3. Brow assessment

Brow position is checked to choose the right procedure.

  2. MarkingSkin to remove is marked in the crease.

Risks and side effects of Upper Blepharoplasty

  • Swelling and bruisingMost visible swelling settles in 1–2 weeks; the crease keeps softening for 1–3 months.
  • Dry or irritated eyesTemporary dryness or a gritty feeling is common and is managed with lubricating drops.
  • Over-resectionRemoving too much skin can make closing the eye difficult; excision is measured conservatively.

All medical procedures carry risks. Your surgeon will review your medical history, explain the risks that apply to you and discuss alternatives before you decide.
