Lower Blepharoplasty in Seoul, Korea
Lower blepharoplasty removes loose lower eyelid skin through a fine incision just below the lashes, repositions under-eye fat into the tear trough and supports the lid with an orbicularis sling and canthopexy to reduce the risk of the lid pulling down.

Who is Lower Blepharoplasty for?
- Thin, crepey lower eyelid skin with fine wrinkles
- Bulging fat, sagging skin and lax muscle together, usually from your 40s
- Remaining skin laxity after previous under-eye surgery
- You want firm support that reduces the risk of ectropion
How Lower Blepharoplasty works
When skin laxity is part of the problem, a transconjunctival approach alone is not enough. A subciliary incision allows skin and muscle to be tightened and fat repositioned at the same time.
The main risk of lower blepharoplasty is the lid pulling down (ectropion). Canthopexy — tightening the outer corner — and a muscle sling support the lid, and skin is removed conservatively.
Our approach to Lower Blepharoplasty
Skin tightening
Loose skin and wrinkles are removed through a lash-line incision.
Fat repositioning
Bulging fat is moved into the tear trough.
Lid support
Canthopexy and a muscle sling help keep the lid in position.
Lower Blepharoplasty: step by step
- AssessmentSkin laxity, fat, lid tension and tear trough depth are evaluated.

Lower blepharoplasty vs fat repositioning
| Lower blepharoplasty | Fat repositioning (transconjunctival) | |
|---|---|---|
| Incision | Skin just below the lashes | Inside the eyelid |
| Treats loose skin | Yes | No |
| Stitch removal | Day 5–7 | None |
| Best for | Skin laxity and wrinkles, usually 40s+ | Bulging fat and hollows with little skin laxity |
Risks and side effects of Lower Blepharoplasty
- Swelling and bruisingMost visible swelling settles in 1–2 weeks; the crease keeps softening for 1–3 months.
- Lower lid pulling (ectropion)The lower lid can pull down if too much skin is removed; canthopexy and conservative excision reduce this risk.
- Lash-line scarUsually fades to a fine line within a few months.
All medical procedures carry risks. Your surgeon will review your medical history, explain the risks that apply to you and discuss alternatives before you decide.
Lower Blepharoplasty recovery timeline
| When | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Day 0 | Surgery and rest in a private recovery room; most patients return to their hotel the same day. Cold compresses start straight away. |
| Days 2–3 | Swelling and bruising usually peak. Keep your head elevated, walk gently and avoid alcohol, saunas and exercise. |
| Days 5–7 | Check-up at the clinic; stitches, splints or tapes are removed where used. Most patients are cleared to fly after this visit. |
| Week 2 | Most visible swelling has eased and many people return to desk work and light make-up. |
| Months 1–3 | Residual swelling keeps settling and the shape refines. Strenuous exercise is usually resumed after 4 weeks. |
